December 4, 2008Karen Swenson "Diversity is the Spice of Life"
A diverse showing of outstanding workmanship of quilts. Karen loves to paper piece, machine appliqué hand appliqué, and now she has added long arm quilting, as well as, designing to her list of attributes.
Karen is a mother of two boys and has three grandchildren; with a background in the sewing world, in dress making and crafts. She is the past owner of a business designing and manufacturing country gifts. These items sold all over the country. Quilting became a passion when she and her husband retired and moved to Grove, Oklahoma. Quilting had changed so much from the time she was a child that she was enthralled with the new artistic look in quilting. There are so many techniques and so much to learn, Karen jumped in with both feet.
She became active in several different guilds and is teaching in several surrounding quilt shops, within the four corners area. She is skilled in piecing, paper piecing, long arm quilting, pattern design and she has a few ribbons acknowledging her work. |
